Located in the vicinity of Paris towards the East, this immense park with an area of 9.947 km2, is one of the hidden treasures that will transcend you into another realm when taking a stroll through the Bois de Vincennes. It is almost 3 times bigger than Central Park in New York City and almost four times bigger than Hyde Park in London.
The Bois de Vincennes is a great place to enjoy a nice walk and relax away from the busy streets of Paris while still being in the city of Love. When you reach the north end of the Bois de Vincennes, you will be astonished by the Chateau de Vincennes. It was once the favorite second home for several kings during the 14th century. Today, it is open to the public to allow for the opportunity to feel like French royalty. In the southwest section of the park you will encounter the Redoute de Gravelle, a fort constructed during the 19th century. Spending the day in the Bois de Vincennes is like taking a stroll through time as you will be a witness to the evolution of time. Afterwards, you can head to the west part of the Bois de Vincennes and you will come across the zoo of the Bois de Vincennes.
To really relax, you can take a break and just sit near any of the 4 lakes which are a source from the Marne River. They are located in each corner of the Bois de Vincennes. The Lac Daumesnil is in the west, the Lac des Minimes in the north-east with three islands, across is the Lac de Saint-Mande, and finally towards the southwest is the Lac de Gravelle.
