As of March 1^st, the Savoy Hotel has been a part of a new cooperation with the America-based, but originally Italian hotel chain Epoque Hotels. The goal with the cooperation is to open up the Savoy Hotel to a new and larger world through new sales channels and forms of input. Epoque Hotels represents a number of luxurious city hotels all over the world, all of which are not part of larger hotel chains. The organization’s primary function is to take care of their customers’ marketing activities, not just through the traditional channels, but also more innovatively at trade fairs, events and the like. The hotels included in Epoque are divided into two distinct categories: avant-garde and classic. To be able to be considered as a member, the hotels need to fulfill certain criteria. This is not just luxury surroundings, but also an individual character, charm and a central location. Hotel Alexandra in Copenhagen Offers Rooms with Insight

Since 1910, guests at Hotel Alexandra have been able to enjoy the view from their rooms overlooking the Town Hall Square in Copenhagen, but now the hotel will also be able to offer guestsrooms that give insight into Danish furniture design.

Hotel Alexandra did for some year ago opens its doors to a wholenew type of hotel room. Guests can book ”Retro design rooms” when they visit Copenhagen.

The hotel has furnished many rooms with Danish furniture design by a number of the leading Danish furniture designers and architects.

“We want to tell the guests a story when they stay at our hotel, andwe have chosen to tell a story about the fantastic Danish furniture design,” says the hotel’s manager, Jeppe Mühlhausen.

The Poet, The Swan, The Egg…

Throughout the hotel one meets many Danish furniture classics. As a special tribute to Finn Juhl, Hans J. Wegner, Ole Wanscher, Nanna Ditzel, Kaare Klint, Verner Panton, Børge Mogensen andArne Jacobsen, rooms have been furnished with the best furniture from each of the designers. For example, guests can enjoy Finn Juhl’s sofa, “The Poet”, or a nap in Wegner’s “Teddy Bear” chair.

The Arne Jacobsen room is furnished with both “The Egg” and “The Swan”, and the hotel has also had special curtains and a bedspread sewn in Arne Jacobsen’s own textile design.

In “the retro design rooms” guests will also have reading material on hand to learn more about the architect who has designed the furniture in their room. The hotel’s staff can also tell guests about the history of the furniture in the hotel and give advice about exhibitions and purchase of Danish design. “It is no longer enough to give guests good service – we also want to teach guests something aboutDenmark and our history when they stay with us,” says Jeppe Mühlhausen.
