The Old Market Square in Poznan is called the Stary Rynek in Polish, in case you wanted to broaden your mind and learn some Polish. The Old Market Square is a large square, its sides measure approximately 140 meters (460 ft.).  The square was originally laid out around 1253. There is a set of buildings in the central part of the square near the Old Town Hall (Ratusz).

This is what happens at the Old Town Hall daily at noon. It is an experience you cannot miss once you are in Poznan. The mechanized goats, after the striking of the clock and the playing of a traditional bugle bang their heads. You will be surprised how many people gather in front of the Old Town Hall every day. Besides, the goats are the symbol of the city. Check out the video below:

You also cannot miss taking a picture in front of the row of merchants’ houses, dating from the 16th century, painted in different colors with an arcade containing souvenir stalls facing the East.

On each side of the square are tall rows of former tenement houses, many of which are now used as restaurants, cafés and pubs (often with outdoor tables on the square itself). Moreover, in the Old Market Square in Poznan you will also find two museums: the Wielkopolska Military Museum and the Museum of Musical Instruments; numerous fountains: depicting Prosperina and a Bamber woman as well as the gods: Apollo, Neptune and Mars; a statue of St. John Nepomucene.

Add to your visit a simple walk along the streets within the area of the former walled city or a light carriage (britzka) ride to top it all off. Check out the video below:
