Singapore is fast becoming a force in the creative arts world and on the road to be the hub for the arts in Asia. In 2011, Singapore will stage highly anticipated industry events including the inaugural Art Stage Singapore 2011.
Lorenzo Rudolf, the former director of Art Basel and founder of Art Basel Miami Beach, has masterminded the inaugural Art Stage Singapore to be held January 12-16, 2011. Hosted at the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort, an architectural design masterpiece in its own right, Art Stage Singapore will feature more than 100 exhibits of contemporary art and design galleries/dealers. The collection will feature the best and most interesting works from the Asia-Pacific region juxtaposed against and in dialogue with carefully selected Western positions. Over 20 projects have been specially created for the fair, presenting a unique opportunity for the discovery of new talents, particularly within the Asian art scenes. Singapore is the ideal destination to host this event as Singapore is a confluence of cultures between the East and West compounded by its geographic location in the crossroads of booming international markets.
Internationally renowned galleries that will be showing at Art Stage Singapore include: Arario Gallery (Seoul/Cheonan/Beijing/New York), Boers-Li Gallery (Beijing), Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin (Paris/Miami), Eslite Gallery (Taipei), Galerie Hans Mayer (Dusseldorf), Galerie Michael Janssen (Cologne/Berlin), Galerie Michael Schultz (Berlin/Seoul/Beijing), Nature Morte (New Delhi/Berlin), Rossi & Rossi (London), ShanghART Gallery (Shanghai/Beijing) and Tomio Koyama Gallery (Kyoto/Tokyo).
