New York’s Midtown area isn’t just for business anymore. Many new, exciting restaurants, bars and attractions have arrived not just for the average tourist but for seasoned New Yorkers as well. Since NYC is jammed pack with “things to do” you just have to find that “thing” that excites you. Since the Dream Hotel – a boutique hotel from the Epoque Hotels‘ collection, is centrally located in Midtown Manhattan (210 West 55th St.) you have the options to set foot in 6 different sections all within a 20 block radius of the hotel.
Central Park: If you are just looking for a “green” spot to rest your feet or get away from all the hustle and bustle you can take an relaxing stroll through Central Park’s many trails and attractions. Stop in at Sheeps Meadow which is quite accessible on 69th street and Central Park West for a picnic or just to relax and from there you can walk to the Neil Singer Lilac Walk just a few feet away. Smells gorgeous and looks even better.
You could spend the entire day just in the park but after the walks head east to 5th avenue and you will come across many of today’s premiere shopping establishments. From 58th St. down to 50th streets you have FAO Swartz, Tiffany’s, H&M, Abercrombie & Fitch, Saks and St. Patrick’s Cathedral all in such a short distance.
Making the loop you happen to come across Rockefeller Plaza (49th St. and 6th Ave) where you can take a gander at the Today show if it’s taping or see an amazing view of the city from on Top of the Rock. One of the best restaurants in the city and in the Rockefeller Center area is Del Frisco’s. Definitely bring an appetite because not only is it a steakhouse but a fine dining experience you will love if you are hungry.
A great walk to digest your food is to take a stroll over to the Hells Kitchen area (9th avenue between 45th St. and 56th St. ) through Times Square. Obviously, Time Square is a place you have to see at least once in your life and it’s a ton of fun to walk through at night where you can get a glimpse of all the craziness that occurs.
As you enter Hells Kitchen you have a plethora of after dinner drinks or some cheap and cheerful desserts to please anyone’s palate. Amy’s Bread (672 Ninth Avenue (Between 46th & 47th St.) and Vintage (753 9th Avenue between 50th St & 51st St.) for every kind of martini available are two places that will satiate any of that sweet tooth or beverage need.
