What To Do in New York – Rockefeller Center, Theater District and Times Square

Courtesy of The Kimberly Hotel in New York, here are some useful tips on what to do in New York City:

The Kimberly Hotel is convenient to many of New York City’s famous landmarks.

Just three blocks from the Kimberly Hotel, guests can enjoy the world famous Rockefeller Center.  Ice skating in the winter and spring months, tours of N.B.C. Studios, Top of the Rock Observation Deck (the glass elevator ride through time is fantastic) and Radio City Music Hall.  From there, shop your way up Fifth Avenue.  Henri Bendel, Harry Winston, Bergdorf Goodman, Sacks, Gucci, Tiffany, Prada, Chanel, Luis Vuitton, and many other fine shops await you.  When you reach 59th Street, you are at Central Park.  Explore the park and enjoy a horse and carriage ride.  Many theme stores including Niketown, the N.B.A. Store and  American Girl Doll,  are a short walk away.  Satisfy your sweet tooth with Magnolia Bakery’s Rockefeller Center location, Dylan’s Candy Bar, Serenditity 3, M&M Store, all within walking distance.

Just a few blocks beyond Rockefeller Center is the Theater District and Times Square.  Be sure to take in a Broadway Show.  Some long running favorites include, “Phantom of the Opera”, “Mama Mia”, “Chicago” and “Lion King”.  More recent hits include: “Fela”, “A Little Night Music” (Angela Lansbury and Catherine Zeta-Jones star), “Billy Elliot the Musical”, “In the Heights”, or a revival of “Hair” or “West Side Story”. Pulitzer Prize winning author David Mamet brings us his new drama “Race”.  Everyone is looking forward to Valerie Harper starring as Tallulluh Bankhead in “Looped”.  The out of town reviews were smashing!  I am also looking forward to “Sondheim on Sondheim”, a review of Stephen Sondheim’s music, starring Vanessa Williams, Barbara Cooke and Top Wopat, stellar cast!  A revival of “Promises, Promises” is in the works for Spring.
